On January 28th, SSA: UHSNET organized a consultative workshop on the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) as it relates to the current state of the right to shelter and adequate housing in Uganda. The UPR is a peer-to-peer reviewing mechanism to monitor the human rights situation in all UN member states. Under this mechanism, the human rights situation of all UN member states is reviewed every 4,5 years. Among the participants at the workshop, which was organized in cooperation with the Centre for Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights in Africa (CESCRA), were SSA: UHSNET partner organizations, interested stakeholders, human rights organizations and government representatives.
